Barshi is a town and a Municipal Council in Solapur district in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is Situated in 18°13' north latitude and 75°41' east longitude north-west of Solapur, the district head-quarters. Barshi is a municipal town and a head-quarter of a taluka bearing the same name.

It is a headquarter and the largest city in Barshi Taluka. It is famous in the region for its quality toor dal (lentil) production and other agriculture products. The town is traditionally considered as a gateway to the neighboring region "Marathwada". Barshi has one of two temples dedicated to Vishnu as Lord Bhagvant; the other is at Varanasi or Kashi. Barshi has also twelve Jyotirlinga such as Uttareshwar, Bhogeshwari, Baleshwar and so on. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Rama travelled through here while going to Sri Lanka.

Barshi had three cotton textile mills, although only one survives. The three were Rajan Mill, Lokmanya Mill and Barshi Textile Mill (called BTM - Old Name JaiShankar Mills Ltd.). The last one is now managed by NTC- previously managed by Rao Bahadur Ganpatrao Zadbuke alias Kakasaheb. Nargis Dutt Memorial Cancer Hospital, initiated by film actor Sunil Dutt, is situated in Barshi. It has state-of-the-art facilities and is funded privately (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) as well as by the government.

"Vithoba", "Pāndurang", and "Pandharināth" are the popular alternate names of the deity, Viththal, who is regarded in Hinduism as a form of Lord Krishna. Warkari (meaning "a pilgrim") is a religious movement (sampraday) within the bhakti spiritual tradition of Hinduism, geographically associated with the Indian states of Maharashtra and northern Karnataka. Warkaris worship Vitthal (also known as Vithoba), the presiding deity of Pandharpur, regarded as a form of Krishna.

Saints and Gurus of Bhakti movement associated with the warkari sect include Dynaneshwar, Namdev, Chokhamela, Eknath, and Tukaram, all of whom are accorded the title of Sant. The warkari movement includes the worship of Krishna in the form of Vitthal and a duty-based approach towards life emphasising, moral behaviour and strict avoidance of alcohol and tobacco, strict Lacto-vegetarian diet and fasting on Ekadashi day (twice a month), self-restraint (brahmacharya) during student life, equality and humanity for all rejecting discrimination based on caste or wealth, the reading of holy books by all castes, the reading of the Haripath every day and regular bhajan and kirtan.

Hostels

MIT institute of Design & MANET provide a fully residential Program, Hostel facilities for the cadets consist of well-designed new dormitories. It is mandatory for all cadets to stay in hostel. This way the cadets get a feel of things that will prepare them well for their career at sea. In line with industry standards, the college has built up a well-furnished hostel, managed by an experienced in-house warden. Latur is a city in the Marathwada region in the Maharashtra state of India. Latur is situated 636 metres above mean sea level, on the Balaghat plateau, on the Maharashtra–Karnataka state boundary. Latur is bounded on the east by Bidar, Nanded is on the northeast, Parbhani on the north, Beed on the northwest, and Osmanabad on the west and south side. Latur has an ancient history, which probably dates to the Rashtrakuta period. It was home to a branch of Rashtrakutas which ruled the Deccan from 753 to 973 AD. The first Rashtrakuta king, Dantidurga, was from Lattalur probably the ancient name for Latur. Anecdotally, Ratnapur is also mentioned as a name for Latur. The King Amoghavarsha of Rashtrakutas developed the Latur city, originally the native place of the Rashtrakutas. The Rashtrakutas who succeeded the Chalukyas of Badami in 753 AD called themselves the residents of Lattalut.

  • Infrastructure –Latur Campus has fully equipped functional departments and a 610 bed attached teaching hospital. The college and hospital have a total constructed area of 4,65,000 sq. ft., which houses 14 major departments.
  • Each department has well-equipped classrooms, clinic rooms or seminar halls, well-equipped practical halls, and laboratories, departmental library, office rooms and a well-equipped Dissection Hall and Autopsy room, as specified by the Medical Council of India.

Ahmednagar is a city in Ahmednagar District in the state of Maharashtra, India, about 120 km northeast of Pune and 114 km from Aurangabad. Ahmednagar takes its name from Ahmed Nizam Shah, who founded the town in 1494 on the site of a more ancient city, Bhingar. With the breakup of the Bahmani Sultanate, Ahmad established a new sultanate in Ahmednagar, also known as Nizam Shahi dynasty.

Ahmednagar is a medieval city. Numerous Mughal-era buildings dot the environs. Ahmednagar Fort, once considered the second most impregnable fort in India, was used by the British to house Jawaharlal Nehru (the first prime minister of India) and other Indian Nationalists before Indian independence. A few rooms there have been converted to a museum. During his confinement by the British at Ahmednagar Fort in 1944, Nehru wrote the famous book The Discovery of India.
