World Peace Centre
World Peace Centre (Alandi), MAEER's MIT, Pune, India is an educational institution dedicated to the noble cause of imparting the Value Based Education based on the words of wisdom spoken by Great Noble son of India Swami Vivekananda, "Union of Science and Religion/Spirituality alone will bring Harmony and Peace to the Entire Mankind". Following the path of great Swamiji, Prof. Dr. V. D. Karad sir initiated the 'World Peace Centre'. Since the establishment of MIT, Pune in 1983, it has been constantly engaged in championing and promoting the cause of time-tested Indian Values, Culture and Traditions for the well-being of the society at large. In appreciation of the work carried out by the MAEER's MIT, Pune under the banner of 'World Peace Centre' in championing the cause of promoting the Value based Universal Education system for spreading the message of peace in society with the apt blend of science ,technology and spirituality, UNESCO, Paris bestowed it with an UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Democracy, Peace and Tolerance on May 12,1998.
Bharat Asmita National Award
Prof. (Dr.) Vishwanath D. Karad an eminent educationist, thinker, a devoted teacher and a dedicated social worker who is one of the pioneers in introducing the policies of privatization of education in the state of Maharashtra .On his birth day every year this award is given to those extraordinary contribution in the field of education as teacher, as Journalist, Best political Leader etc. The Bharat Asmita National Awards are meant to recognize the selfless and committed feats of leaders from the field of Management Education, Journalism & Mass Media, Science & Technology, Politics and Lifetime Achievement.
The purpose behind the Bharat Asmita National Awards is recognizing excellence and pointing the impressionable youth in the direction of selfless social service and contributing to nation building. We are certain that they will continue to provide inspiration to the future generations.
MAAER's MIT of Institutions organizes a National Level Inter-Engineering Sports Meet, "MIT SUMMIT" which consists of 14 disciplines which are Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Cricket, Baseball, Badminton, Table tennis, Chess, Carom, Squash, Water polo, Swimming & Rowing. Over 3200 sports persons from 75 colleges all over the country participate in Summit.
Prof. Dr. Mangesh T.Karad, the person behind this initiative believes 'Sports unite people of different backgrounds. It breaks the barriers of caste, creed and religion to bring them together to achieve glory and honour.' It is vision and mission to see students from all over India to showcase their talent in true sportsman spirit because of the firm belief that sports does not build character but reveals it.
Bhartiya Chattra Sansad
Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad (Indian Student Parliament) is brainchild of Prof. Rahul V. Karad initiated in 2011.
The innovative platform Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad or BCS as it is known as, is a non-political platform to sensitize and harness the power of youth mainly the General Secretaries, Joint Secretaries and socially active & politically sensitive students from 25000 colleges of more than 400 universities in the Country. It is in a way is a classroom that provides political coaching to nearly 10,000 students in the age group of 18-25.
It provides lessons on the functioning of a democracy and encourages the students to serve the society by entering public life and assuming leadership roles. It is aimed at enhancing the roles and relevance of youth in democratic institutions like political parties, social organizations, colleges, universities and Public institutions
Robocon, short form for Robotic Contest, is an interesting game-cum- intellectual exercise for budding engineers and their enthusiastic instructors, determined to innovate and create machines for producing desired results. Participation in this activity is an end-to-end competitive experience from concept design of a system of robots programmed to perform according to rules of the game played on a high precision technical Contest Area and to score a victory beating the competitors; all this according to a Theme declared by the Host Country. International Robocons are mainly sponsored by Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) which includes Doordarshan (Prasarbharati) of India as a member which has been organizing all activities in India for last Nine years with collaboration with MIT Group of Institutions Pune, India under the leadership of Prof.Dr.Sunil Karad Sir.
Robocon Junior is a national level robotics competition for school kids. It is being organized by MIT Pune's, Vishwashanti Gurukul School, Loni Kalbhor Pune in association with MAEER's MIT Academy of Engineering (MIT AOE) and Doordarshan Sahyadri.
The persons behind this initiative are Prof. Dr. Sunil Karad and Mrs. Swati Chate. The purpose of this initiate is to provide a resource based education at par with global opportunities for academic growth and development of the School children in the semi urban areas of Maharashtra.
To accomplish the awareness of robotics in student fraternity, MIT Group has taken this initiative of conducting Junior Robocon in association with Robokidz India LLP, for the school children from the age group of 6 years and above.
Raj Kapoor Memorial
The Memorial on Raj Kapoor has been built at MIT Loni Rajbaug campus which is 30 kms away from the Pune city. It is the only museum of its kind in the country which celebrates the creative and passionate actor of all times, Late Shri Raj Kapoor. Raj Kapoor has a great contribution for enriching the Indian cinema. Mr. Kapoor won many awards throughout his career, including 9 FILMFARE AWARDS and 19 nominations. His films AWAARA (1951) and BOOT POLISH (1954) were nominated for the Palme d'Or at the CANNES FILM FESTIVAL. His acting in the former was rated as one of the "Top-Ten Performances of all time", by the Time Magazine. His film JAGTE RAHO (1956) also won the Crystal Globe award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
The life of Raj Kapoor and scenes from his films are depicted at this Memorial. This Memorial was developed under the guidance of Sanjay Sing, Sanjay Chatterji and Prashant Valukar, directors of Indian Traditional Cultural Centre; they have worked in the RAMOJI FILM CITY and in theme park in Chennai and Hyderabad. Its open for public and it's not just Raj Kapoor, but statues of Amitabh Bachchan, Rajendra Kumar, Vaijayanti Mala, Nargis, Shashi and Shammi Kapoor and many others have been immortalized here. Scenes from AWAARA, JIS DESH ME GANGA BAHETI HAI and MERA NAAM JOKER have been displayed in the Memorial. The Memorial of seven pagodas is inaugurated on 16th May 2014 in the premises of Raj Kapoor's bungalow inside Rajbaug Campus .
Abhivyakti is an inter-collegiate literary festival organized at MIT Group of Institutions at Pune campus. The peculiarity of this festival is, it is totally executed by the students for the students under the MIT faculty guidance. This festival comprises of competitions of 'Painting', 'Debate', 'Extempore', 'Poetic Verse recitation',' Quiz', 'Movie Making',' One Act Play' in English as well as Marathi language.
These literary events bring out the expressions of the students and nurture their social and interactive skills.
Events such as 'Treasure hunt' and 'Snap hunt' not only make the participant to think and act quickly but also develop a feeling of competitiveness and physical endurance against time.Students enjoy such high order riddle solving games and always learn something before they leave the campus which being the prime motto of the entire festival.
It is just not a creative fest but a ready platform for practicing leadership and life skills. This Event has been one of the crown jewels of the institute's cultural, art and literary activities. Mere technical knowledge is not enough for the overall growth of the youth and a platform that would showcase the talents of students in various fields is a must. The remarkable skill of expressing oneself and convincing people of the innovative ideas is thus achieved through this activity called Abhivyakti.
