History
In 1983, Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad founded MIT in Pune with a mission to provide value-based quality education. Inspired by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he aspired for MIT to produce Nobel laureate engineers and scientists while emphasizing the union of science and spirituality for societal peace. Beyond academic pursuits, he established forums for pilgrim center development and environmental conservation. A strong advocate for holistic well-being, he initiated annual lectures and yoga sessions for faculty and staff. His humanitarian efforts, including representing India at global conferences, led to UNESCO recognizing MIT with a Chair for Human Rights, Democracy, Peace, and Tolerance in 1998. His vision extends to initiatives like ‘World Peace Prayer’ and the re-establishment of symbols of national integrity. As the founder of MIT, Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad’s transformative socio-educational initiatives and humanitarian activities showcase his visionary impact and commitment to a better society.
